In Module 1 you harvested real search phrases the manual way — typing slowly into Google with a notebook open, collecting what autocomplete and "People also ask" offered. That trick never stops being useful. But it has a blind spot: it tells you what people type, not how many people type it. This lesson adds the numbers — using nothing but free tools.
Tool 1 — Google Keyword Planner: the official numbers
This is Google's own tool, and it is free. It lives inside Google Ads because it was built for advertisers — but you never have to run a single ad to use it.
Getting in takes five minutes, once:
- 1Create a free account at ads.google.com
- 2When it pushes you to build a campaign, look for the small link that says something like "Create an account without a campaign" — you do not need to add payment details to use the planner
- 3Open Tools, then Keyword Planner, then "Discover new keywords"
