Getting your first accounts job

What junior accounts roles actually involve, and how to prove you can do them.

You have reached the last lesson of the course — so let us be practical about what it was all for. Accounting has something rare among careers: a permanent, worldwide market for careful beginners. Every business on earth must keep books, most are small, and the daily work is exactly what you have just learned.

What junior roles actually look like

The job titles vary — accounts assistant, junior bookkeeper, accounts payable/receivable clerk, finance assistant — but the task list barely does:
