Clickable filters that make your report feel like a real dashboard.
Rahul emails his beautiful pivot to his manager. The reply comes back in four minutes: "Nice. Can you make it a picture? And can I click on it?"
Fair requests, honestly. A wall of numbers takes effort to read; a chart takes none. And a report a manager can filter themselves stops being your job every Monday morning. Both requests take about two minutes each.
The pivot chart
Click anywhere inside your pivot, then PivotTable Analyze → PivotChart (or Insert → PivotChart). Pick a plain Clustered Column chart for now and click OK.
What appears looks like an ordinary chart, but it is wired directly into the pivot — and the wiring runs both ways:
Rearrange the pivot fields, and the chart redraws itself instantly.
Use the little filter buttons on the chart, and the pivot underneath filters too.
Drag Product out of Columns and drop in the month grouping from lesson 2, and the chart flips from "cities by product" to "sales by month" before your eyes. No chart rebuilding, ever.
